Crossvine
Throughout the park and the surrounding forest one can see the Black Locust Trees and Flowering Dogwood tree (past peak bloom) in bloom. Crossvine and Blackberry can also be seen blooming in various locations throughout the area.
On Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park's Clifty Creek trail the following wildflowers were sited on April 5, 2012: Pussy Toes, Blue Phlox, Prairie Trillium, Wild Geranium, Star Chickweed, Quaker Ladies, Small Bluets, Rue Anemone, Buttercup sp., Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Dwarf Dandelion, Violet Wood Sorrel, Bluestar, Sweet Cicely, May Apple, and Crested Dwarf Iris. On the Indian Bluffs trail the most notable flowers were: Pennywort, and Virgina Spiderwort.

Earlier in the week several other species were seen in bloom on the park's Lake Trail including: Yellow Star Grass, Wood Betony, Spring Cress, Philadelphia Fleabane, Golden Seal, Dwarf Larkspur, Jacob's Ladder, Wild Ginger,Virginia Bluebells, Smooth Solomon's Seal, and Lyer-leaved Sage.
This week's most notable wildlife sightings have been: American Goldfinch, Northern Parula, Canada Geese, Blue-winged Teal, Wood Duck, Great Blue Heron, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Bluebird, Eastern Fence Lizard, Midland Water Snake, Eastern Box Turtle, Cricket frog, Bronze Frog, and Gray Treefrog.
