Recreation Schedule for July 2-8, 2012

At Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park we will be doing multiple July 4th activities! On Monday come cool off in the meeting room and make some awesome July 4th crafts at 10:30AM. Tuesday we'll be cooling off in the meeting room for multiple activities. On July 4th we'll host a campground parade at 7PM in the campground. All are welcome to participate. Due to extreme drought condition the park is currently under a burn ban. No fireworks are permitted in the park. The schedule also lists several local fireworks displays that are open to the public.

The last page of the recreation schedule shows the Junior Naturalist Checklist for Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. The Kentucky State Parks Junior Naturalist Program is designed for kids ages 7 to 12. Those who successfully complete the program receive an official Jr. Naturalist patch and certificate. FREE—Every Thursday in June 2012 at 10AM
Ages 12 & up welcome to enjoy these 1-hour programs.

*Telescope will be set-up every class for solar viewing, after the main program.

*It will be possible to see coronal holes, prominences, and flairs if they are present.

*Classes will be presented by Jackie Mathis, park volunteer and astronomer.

We will be looking at comets at a different viewpoint. The ancients called them the lawless ones. Are all comets dirty snowballs? Can they even become planets?

Sun and the Anthropic Principle
June 21st in the Private Dining Room
Why now more and more scientists believe the universe is fine tuned for life. Our sun and solar system; why they are unique.

UFO’s: What are they? Where did they originate?
June 28th in the Glover Meeting Room
Age old question: Are thy real? What is the proof? Reputable individuals have seen. We will strip both agendas and explore close encounters of the third kind.

Recreation Schedule for June 11-17, 2012

Highlights for programs this week:
Monday: Help us call in some rain clouds by making your own rain stick.
Tuesday: Make a Father's Day Card for your Dad or Grandpa.
Wednesday:Bring grandma or grandpa to Senior Bingo.
Thursday: Comet's: What are they? presented by Jackie Mathis, park volunteer
Friday:Bird Song bingo and bird walk
Saturday: An evening with our bats.
Sunday: Family Day!
