We have some big news here at General Butler State Resort Park, and we want you come help celebrate! Our lodge is celebrating it's 50th ANNIVERSARY, which means it's time to party! Come join us at the front lawn, for great food, live entertainment and activites! The party starts at 10:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M, so, bring the whole family, for inflatables, train rides, and minature golf. Did I mention great food, because this party is serving Pulled Pork BBQ, the fixin's, and of course cake! And what party isn't without music! We'll be showcasing local talent and bands, plus music from the Brush Fire Bluegrass Band. So, grab your calender/cell phone/agenda and mark Saturday, September 15th, for our 50th Anniversary Celebration!

With the summer winding down and Labor Day just around the corner, it's time for the annual Goldenrod Gala! Back by popular demand, this one-day art festival is held at the front entrance, here at General Butler State Park. So, come join us from 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m on Saturday, September 1st with free admission, and free parking. Worried about the weather? Don't be! The Gala will still be going on rain or shine! So, come out and browse the selection from local artisians and merchants, enjoy some live entertainment, food from our concessions, and of course some produce from the Famer's Market. Also, don't forget our Mini Golf, Kentucky Flyer Train, and Boat Rentals! So, what are you waiting for? Are you interested at setting up a booth and being a vendor? Not a problem! We're still taking applications! Just contact General Butler State Resort Park or email Tanya.Supplee@ky.gov and request a vendor application. The last day for registration is Thursday, August 30th, so get those applications in!

FRANKFORT, KY - Kentucky State Parks will host the 2012 Unbridled Adventure Race Series, four adventure races that will test participants physical and mental skills for beginners and advanced racers.

This series is being conducted at Kentucky State Parks in partnership with the Kentucky Office of Adventure Tourism and Flying Squirrel Adventures.

Each race will include mountain biking on trail and road, trekking on and off trail, paddling on flat or slow moving water, and navigation with topo map and compass. A given race may also include a short life-jacket-assisted swim or other discipline for which no special expertise is required.

Races are open to individuals or teams of two, three or four people. All races are United States Adventure Racing Association sanctioned and qualify for points in the USARA national standings. Additionally, Unbridled Adventure is a series that qualifies for additional points under the new USARA guidelines.

June 9, 2012: General Butler State Resort Park, four-hour race

August 11, 2012: Barren River State Resort Park near Glasgow, six-hour race

September 15, 2012: Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill, KY, eight-hour race

November 3, 2012: Natural Bridge State Resort Park at Slade, KY, twelve-hour race (This race is called the Fig X and is not recommended for inexperienced racers)

CARROLLTON, KY- General Butler State Resort Park will host its first Mudathalon- a 3 mile, 40-obstacle course with a muddy terrain from start to finish on Saturday June 2, 2012.

Participants can take part in Mudathalon as an individual or member of a team. Waves of 100 will start at 8a.m. Participants will face obstacles such as the Mud Slide, Cargo Net Climb, Heaping hay Bales, 40-foot Tunnel of Terror and other fantastic water obstacles. Mudathalon guarrantees you will be dripping in mud from head to toe. General Butler State Resort Park offers a great area for a post-race rinse.

The course is designed for all ability levels and prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women. The top three teams will also be awarded and there is a costume contest.

The registration fee is $75 which includes parking, post-race cookout, medal, T-Shirt, bandana and much more. Participants must be at least 14 years old and those under 18 must have a parent or guardians permission. Charity Team participants can give $10 back to the charity of their choice. Members of the military and eligible for a $5 discount.

Held Saturday, March 31, 2012 @ Two Rivers Restaurant inside Butler Lodge from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
